Observe the plants around you. Can you identify which groups they belong to? Give it a try. You can use the printable notes and visual organizer to help you. You may not have example plants for every group in your area. That’s okay. It’s also okay to guess, if you’re not sure. Making educated guesses is a big part of science.
Once you get comfortable organizing plants into groups, start thinking about how they relate to one-another. Do certain types of plants like to grow together? Does one plant help to create a favorable growing area for another? Do you see anything in nature that gives you ideas for enhancing your yard, garden, or even a potted plant? You don’t need firm answers right now. Just let these ideas roll around in your head for a while. See what pops up.
