Raising Backyard Meat Rabbits – Breeding Your Rabbits Transcript

Resources:

If you have your rabbits and it is the right season;
South- October-April
North- April-October

Breed your rabbits and mark the calendar for 28 days to put the nest box in full of hay.
If it is not the right season for you then mark your calendar to plan for the date of first breeding.

If you live in the South and want to bring your rabbit inside in September to gain strength and fertility for Fall breeding; purchase a cage (that the poop falls through wire) and find a place for that messy buck to reside (make sure he doesn’t become a permanent house guest!)

Homework:

Buy a farm calendar or record book or set up a computer program to keep good records of breeding and births. Although you can easily create a spreadsheet in Excel, my son purchased a software to keep track of breeding and births and make pedigrees for his rabbits: https://evsoft.us/rabbit_services.shtml
