Homework Assignment Segment 1 of Saving Quality Seeds

  • Choose one or two vegetable varieties that you will grow to save the seed from in the next (or current) growing season. Remember from the video that some of the easiest plants to save seeds from are the ones with perfect (bi-sexual) flowers such as tomatoes, beans, peas, and lettuce.
  • If you have seeds already, check to see if they are open-pollenated, heirloom, hybrid, or GMO. If you don’t have any seeds or you are not sure of what you have, go and purchase some good quality seeds from a reputable seed company (click here for a list of recommended seed companies, and you can also purchase seeds from directly from Stephen at http://www.underwoodgardens.com/).
  • First off, Stephen Scott (your expedition leader) is offering you a 10% discount on any seeds you purchase at his store at http://www.underwoodgardens. com/  Just enter this coupon code at checkout “SS123” and your 10% discount will automatically be applied.
